Shape Interpretation In A Mandala

There are various shapes in a mandala which has some of the following traditional meaning:

Circle:

a symbol of wholesome and eternity. The inner circle of the mandala represents the most profound part of yourself. Its ring forms a barrier to what lies beyong, protecting something which is extremely precious and vulnerable.

Line:

a single line can be straight and hard or curled and soft. It can be short and determined or long and sinuous. Hard lines often represent repression and pain. Softer line may indicate indecision and lack of motion.

Cross:

Two intersecting lines symbolize the crossing of two forces within you. They may be equally balanced if the cross is symmetrical or they may be antagonistic where one is dominating the other. The centre of the cross on the medicine wheel is the point of blance in a harmonious inner world.

Spiral:

an ancient symbol of the womb. The spiral is a line that takes you from the broad sweeps of the outer life to an infinitely small centre where you cesase to exist. It is therefore a symbol of change and rebirth into something new.

Crescent:

associated with the moon, which may be waxing and growing in strength or waning, symbolizing loss of power. Its of unconscious and instinctive powers.

Triangle:

the three sides represent three aspects of yourself-mind, body and spirit. Together they interact and form a whole and may move you on to something new in whichever direction they are pointing.

Square:

the four sides of a square represent stability and security, the solid foundation of your personality and inner strength.

Star:

these are brilliant signs of hope.Whether tiny specks or large brilliant objecgts, when times are dark they can remind you of the light within you and encourage you not to give up.
