Feng Shui Tips On Kitchen

Feng shui experts advocate the following guides on kitchen:

  • The kitchen should be well-lit and have a feeling of spaciousness. It is important to note that in Feng shui, the kitchen symbolize the family’s wealth, hence the reason for it to be well-lit to encourage chi to enter. If the kitchen is dark and gloomy, then we will not want to spend any time there;
  • The cook should be able to see anyone who enters the room without turning his or her head more than forty-five degrees. If this is not possible, a remedy is to place mirrors to allow the cook to see the doorway;
  • Next, the stove must be kept clean and in good condition as it relates directly to the wealth of the family;
  • Keep the kitchen well stocked with food to give the impression of abundance;
  • Try to conceal all pipes and drains as they symbolize wealth draining away;
  • The kitchen should have an airy, spacious and welcoming feel;
  • If the house is two more storey high, we do not want a toilet directly above the kitchen as the toilet creates negative chi which will adversely affect the luck and wealth of the family;
  • The kitchen should be close and on the same evel as the dining room as beneficial chi is produced in the kitchen. It is believd that if the dining room is situated at a higher level than the kitchen your guests will take the beneficial chi away with them when they leave.
  • The stove should preferably not be placed next to the sink or refrigerator and
  • The color white is a good color to paint the kitchen as it relates to the metal element which helps to harmonize the various metallic appliances like the stove, refrigerator, dishwasher,etc in the kitchen and
  • The kitchen  should not be visible from the front door as it is believe that the owner will then to think too mach about food. A screen can effectively conceal the kitchen or a wind chime/hanging crystal is an effective remedy.

Yin And Yang Concept

Chi is made up of both yin and yang. Yin and yang are two opposites in the universe. Night versus day; short versus tall; front versus back and male versus female are classic examples of yin and yang. While they are opposite, surprising, none of these can exist without the other. It’s obvious that without night there is no day and without black there would be no white. Yin is represented by black and yang is white.

In the ancient past, this yin yang concept began when the Chinese called the shady, northern slopes of a mountain yin and the sunny, southern slopes yang.

The Taoists used the yin yang concept to represent completion.

This symbol looks like two tadpoles in a circle, symbolizes the universe. One tadpole is black with a white dot in it and the other white with a black dot in it. The dots indicate that inside every yin there is a certain amount of yang and inside every yang is a degree of yin. Every thing in the universe consist of yin and yang energies that are constantly interacting with each other.

In our daily lives, practitioners of this yin yang concept would advocate the need of a balance between yin and yang.

If the neighborhood is entirely flat then it is said to be too yin. If too hilly, it is then too yang.

In the ancient past,the extremely hilly is considered to be too yang. Incidentally, pagodas were original devised to create yang energy. Even today, miniature pagodas are still used as decorative ornaments to symbolize yang energies.

Common Graphology Checklist To Understand The Personality Of Oneself

According to graphology experts, we can understand a person better in the following various aspects:

a) How energetic the person is:

Look at the pressure of the writer handwriting:

  • The harder the pressure, the greater the energy and vitality.
  • The lighter the pressure, the more sensitivity and subtlety.

(b) How Extrovert or Introvert:

Look at the slant in the handwriting

  • Does the writing go forward, backward, or is it straight up and down?
  • The extrovert moves forward toward people, and into the future, while
  • The introvert holds himself back from people and is attached to the past out of fear of moving forward.
  • Those who write straight up and down tend to control their emotions and maintain a neutral position.

© A person’s intelligence:

In handwriting analysis, there are five main indicators that can signify intelligence.  These are speed, rhythm, symmetry, simplication and legibility.

  • Speedy writing shows a person who thinks quickly.
  • Rhythm is the spacing between words and sentences.
  • Are the spaces consistent?
  • Symmetry is balance - is there a good balance between the “zones” described above?
  • Is the writing flowery, with lots of unnecessary lines and flourishes, or is it reduced to its essentials? The more simplified, the higher the intelligence is likely to be.
  • Can the writing be easily read?  If the writer wishes to communicate, he will write legibly, although sometimes the writing is so fast, because the hand cannot keep up with the mind, that it becomes difficult to read

(d) Present emotional state:

We look at the direction of the writing line itself.

  • Does the line go downward?  if so, the person may be depressed.
  • Does it swing upward?  He is probably optimistic.
  • Does the line start out evenly, go downward, and end up on the upswing?  The person may start something, get discouraged, then renew his or her resolve and complete things in a flurry.
  • Does the line start out evenly and end up going down?  If so, the writer tends to start a task with enthusiasm, but gets bogged down and often fails to complete it

(e) The Inner and Outer Personality:

The key to study the personality of the person is the signature as the signature is similar to the rising sign of a birth chart.  It is the persona, the face that the writer presents to the world.  While the body of the writing presents the true personality of the writer, the signature tells us what he/she wishes the world to see.

  • If we see scrawly, illegible signatures that follow perfectly legible writing,it can mean that the writer wishes to show the world that he is much too busy and important  to sign his name clearly.
  • An underlined signature indicates the confidence of the writer, as do large, flourished capitals.
  • If the signature matches the rest of the writing, the writer can be trusted to present his true face to the world, free of any disguise.
  • Is the initial of his first name larger than the initial of the last?  Then he is an independent adult, autonomous and free from a dependent attachment to his family.  If on the other hand the initial of the family name is larger, he sees himself first and foremost as a part of a larger whole, his mate or his family.

Using Graphology As A Complementary Tool In Astrology Study

Interestingly, some astrologers also deploy the use of graphology to complement the study of the birth charts of their client

With graphology as a complementary tool, the astrologer can:

  • Analyze the client’s handwriting to confirm what is seen in his or her chart, as well as show how the client/writer is dealing with the problems and conflicts inherent in the birth chart
  • Understand his client’s present emotional states such as depression or elation, the person’s persistency to carry through on a given task, or whether he/she makes fresh starts and gives up before a project is completed.
  • Intuitively get a picture of what the person is like. A large, rounded writing that fills the page evokes an expansive, outgoing, generous individual.  While a small, tightly compressed writing may call to mind an inhibited person who doesn’t move outward toward others but keeps to himself.  And it is indeed true that the space one uses in writing reveals something about the space one chooses to live in.
  • When comparing the client own astrological birth chart to his/her handwriting where there is a lot of fixity will give angularity to his/her writing, while mutability will produce a relaxed, flowing hand.
  • A person with strong element of fire, we can see a lot of pressure and intensity in the writing.A person with strong Neptune-the sensitive nature will be revealed in light pressure and high upper strokes. A person with strong Earth – we see a lot of large lower loops. A person with strong Water-the moodiness will appear in changeable writing, variable pressure and inconsistent base lines.
  • There are three zones in writing - the upper, middle, and lower zones.  The middle zone letters are those which don’t have stems extending above or below the line, such as “a, e, o.”  The middle zone represents the everyday life, much in the way that the Moon in a person’s birth chart does, and if the middle zone writing is large in comparison with the upper and lower zones, the person is very much immersed in daily tasks and lives on a day-to-day basis. Many women, especially those who opt for the role of housewife, have predominating middle zones.
  • The upper zone letters are those which extend to the space above, such as “d, l, k.”  If the upper zone letters are high in proportion to the middle and lower zones, the person is said to be very active on a mental and spiritual level, an astrological correlation being Mercury and Neptune.
  • The lower zone letters go below the line, as with “g, y, p, q,” the realm of the material, physical, and sexual, akin to the Taurean Venus and the unconscious aspects of the Moon.
  • If a person’s upper zones are much higher in proportion to the middle and lower zones, he may be compensating for a lack in his material or sexual life by using this energy creatively on the mental level.  If the lower zone is much larger than the upper or middle, there is a high concentration of physical energy, which can be expressed sexually or in the acquisition of material pleasures.

Placement Of Toilet In Feng Shui Terms

Feng shui experts advocate the following advices on the placement of toilet:

  • The toilet should be as inconspicious as possible;
  • The bathroom and toilet should not open directly on to the door of a main room on the opposite side of the hallway;
  • The bathroom should not be sited at the end of a long hallway;
  • Bathroom and toilet doors should be kept closed;
  • Use a screen or half-wall to separate the toilet and bathroom if they are both in the same room;
  • Toilets should not be placed in the middle of the house. This spread negative chi throughout the house and
  • A toilet should not be sited close to the front door. If it is negative chi from the toilet will clash with the positive chi coming into the house.

Numbers And Its Meaning In Feng Shui Terms

Numbers have alway been an integral part of feng shui. The magic square/lao shu on the mythical tortoise’s back containedall the numbers from one to nine.

In Feng shui, numbers are divided into yin and yang. Even numbers are yin and odd numbers are yang. Yang numbers are considered to be more favorable than yin numers but balance is equally important. Hence, it is good to have our house number to contain both yin and yang elements than to be either all yin or all yang.

Chinese always have the following homophonic interpretations for each number:

One sounds like “honor”. Also sounds like “won”

Two sound like “easy”

Three sounds like “growth”

Four sound like “death”

Five sounds like “nothing”

Six sounds like ” wealth”

Seven sounds like “sure”

Eight sounds like ” prosperity”

Nine sounds like ” long life”

Once you understand the above, you will then understand why the Chinese likes number like 2(easy), 6(wealth), 8(prosperity).

However, what is interesting is if your house number is 24 which can be interpreted as “easy death”- well for Chinese belief but from numerology standpoint, 24 is a very good number.

Also don’t forget the number 4 which means death which is frequently avoided by the Chinese wherever possible. If you understand this, you will then sometimes, find number changed from 4 to 4A just to avoid the homophonic interpretation of “death”. How about in Hong Kong, where in 1988,the first year where the Hong Kong’s Transport Department began auctioning license plate number.The number “8″was sold for a whopping figure of $650,000!!! The license plate “2828″ which means “easy money, easy money” sold for more than $63,000.

It has always being a well known fact that in Chinese environments in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, houses no 8 being sold first and no 4 will be the very last.

Some feng shui experts also advocate:

  • if you are choosing a new home, it is best to buy one with both yin and yang numbers as part of the street address and
  • arranging the numbers on your letter box so that each number is placed slightly higher than the one before is a good idea except when the final digit is a four. [Arranging the numbers in this way tends to put most significance on the final number. If the final number of the house numberis four, arrange the numbers in a straight line to place equal emphasis on each number.]

Also, from the feng shui, there is the following relationship between the number and the direction, color and elements:-

Direction  Number  Color               Element

North          1             Blue,  black    Water

South           9            Red                  Fire

East           3,4           Green              Wood

West          6,7           White               Metal

Center      2,5,8         Yellow              Earth

If we look at the number in relationship to eight trigram:

Direction Number   Color    Trigam   Element

North             1         Black       K’an       Water

Southwest     2         Yellow     K’un       Earth

East                3          Green     Chen      Wood

Southeast      4           Green     Sun        Wood

Center            5           Yellow      -           Earth

Northwest     6            White     Chien     Metal

West               7            White      Tui        Metal

Northeast      8             Yellow    Ken       Earth

South              9              Red        Li          Fire

Good Feng Shui Remedies

Feng shui experts advocate some of the following remedies to eliminate shar chi/bad chi:

Mirrors:

  1. Do not hang a mirror opposite any door. This effectively stops the chi from entering the next room, and encourages negative chi to build up;
  2. Keep the mirrors clean. Dust and dirt reduce the effectiveness of mirrors;
  3. Should not have too many mirrors in the house. Use them sparingly in the bedroom or any other area that needs to be restful and soothing;
  4. Mirrors in the dining room symbolically double the amount of food on the table. They also double the feelings of well-being and enjoyment that you and your guests will experience in the room;
  5. A large, octagonal-shaped mirror represents all eight directions and is a powerful force of energy. Place it in the living room or in a hallway;
  6. A mirror at the top of a staircase or on the landing prevents the chi from flowing down the stairs too quickly. It also means that we will see a welcming face everytime we go up the stairs and
  7. Use Pa-Kua mirrors to send back shars from outside your property.

Wind Chimes, lamps, plant, water and animals:

  1. Wind chimes and other objects that create pleasant sounds make useful remedies. They are particularly useful for remedying background noises, such as air-conditional units or the refrigerator;
  2. Tables and floor lamps create comfortable pools of light that can illuminate dark areas and encourage more chi into any areas that need activating;
  3. Plants help the chi to circulate and can also be used to hide shars. They add colors and create harmonyand contentment;
  4. Water, particularly moving water attracts chi and money. Consider placing a small ornamental foundation or aquarium in our Wealth location and
  5. Live animals help the chi to circulate. They are also provide love and happiness which help create harmony and contentment.

La Santa Muerte(Saint Death Or Holy Death)

This picture show a  gruesome skeletal figure, dressed in a robe, holding the world in one hand and a scythe in the other. She is the Santa Muerte - Saint Death or Holy Death - and. This picture strike the similarity of  a typical European “Grim Reaper” rather unexpectedly holding a balanced pair of scales and standing with one foot upon a stylized Aztec skull.

La Santa Muerte’s following is growing in Mexico, where chapels have sprung up over the six years to honor her. The statues are popular each November during the celebration of All Souls and All Saints where the Mexican also celebrate it together with honors family members who have died. Many believed that La Santa Muerte will become more known in the United States because of immigrants.

A bit of history:No one really know when exactly the Santa Muerte cult began as the sect could have remained underground for decades. Devotion to Santa Muerte first took hold in rough, poor urban neighborhoods where violence and death are facts of daily life. In 2001, it surfaced in Colonia Morelos in Mexico City. It began with one chapel, and now there are 20 in Colonia Morelos and (Colonia) Tepito. The followers also include those who broke away from the Roman Catholic Church.

Believers:

Includes:

  • Narcotraffickers, corrupt cops and politicians
  • The Santa Muerte image that has been appearing on the skin and in the writings of a number of criminal organizations.
  • ‘Santisima Muerte’ or ‘Holy Death’ is an image that is finding popularity among members of such gangs as MS-13 as well as members of Mexican drug cartels.
    The ‘angel of death’ may also give her followers ‘psychological strength’ if they believe that she will keep them from death. Reports of shrines discovered among drug labs and in the homes of drug dealers continue to grow.
  • The Santisima Muerte subculture appears to growing. A number of incidents surrounding the figure continue to give the spirit’s reputation more credibility as a protector of crime. Murdered victims of the notorious Mexican Gulf Cartel were left at a public shrine to Santisima Muerte in Monterrey Mexico on May 11, 2007.
  • Santisima Muerte is also honored by those who are not involved in criminal activity. Some believe she is simply a saint that can identify with the poor, the sick and the oppressed. Inmates pray to the image for protection from other inmates.
  • Believers, including some Roman Catholics, also pray to her at altars in their homes as they believe she saves lives.
  • Others pray to her so as to bring death to their enemies.
  • Others ask her for protection “even as they do harm to others,”
  • People pray to Santa Muerte for jobs, good fortune and money, as well as for safety.”On Friday

 Whilst those non-believers thought that Santa Muerte as “satanic because it is attributing powers to something that doesn’t have power which is then idolatry.So who was this Holy Death? Where did she come from?

Stories/Myths about La Santisima Muerte:

  1.  Scholars of Mexican culture said that La Santisima Muerte is a “banned saint,” the Roman Catholic “cover” for an ancient Aztec goddess named Mictlantecuhtli, a death goddess and co-ruler, with her husband, of the underworld. Mictlantecuhtli is the sister to the Aztec heavenly goddess Tonantzin, who has been syncretized with the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Guadalupe. That’s why Mictlantecuhtli became “Most Holy Death, The Virgin Mary as a Skeleton.”
  2. La Santisima Muerte is a SHE. “women perform a novena to her to keep men faithful.” Some gave a long story of how she keeps men faithful to their wives and will judge and kill men who violate the sanctity of marriage if called upon to do so, because her husband was unfaithful to her, causing her to commit suicide, and to hate and punish all unfaithful men.
  3. The image typically appears as a skeletal figure holding a bladed sickle or a globe. Its exact origins are unknown, but there are a number of speculations that the icon comes from a mixture of Aztec heritage, Spanish Catholicism and even African religious culture. The image’s subculture appears to be accepted within the religious cultures of Afro-Caribbean religions such as Santeria, Palo Mayombe and Haitian Voodoo. The religious communities of Mexican Curanderismo and Brujeria also appear to incorporate the image into their spiritual practices. Some followers of the folk saint call upon her powers without fully integrating the saint into their full-time religious practices.
     Rituals involved with La Santisima Muerte:
  •  Perform a seven-knot spell for La Santisima Muerte which is quite similar to the hoodoo nine knot spell for a Nation Sack, but only that the knotted string that has been smeared with semen is tied around her statue, for safe-keeping. The statue is actually designed with a groove around the base to accept the wound-up string.
  • Holds an altar with a dozen figures of Santa Muerte in robes of white, gold and black. Black stands for a death wish or for bringing harm to an enemy. White is for protection, and gold is for money. Red, another color associated with Santa Muerte, represents passion.
  • Prayers ( refer below: 9 days cycle of prayers)
  • Offerings given to Santisima Muerte include gifts of flowers, fruit, coins, alcohol and cigarettes.
  • Prayers called ‘Oracions’ are given to the saint to ask for her assistance and protection. Traditional religious artifacts of the Catholic Church such as rosary beads and prayer cards may be found in her shrine.

The different form of popularity of Santa Muerte:

  • In the form of tattoos of the saint.
  • Images may also be found on the jewelry of her followers.
  • Some carry ‘amulets’ or ‘charms’ made from seeds, plastic beads and stone decorated with the saint’s image.
  • A popular Santisima Muerte image is a mass produced amulet in the form of a necklace with the skeletal image on one side and an image of the saint ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe’ painted on the back.
  • Santisima Muerte’s most popular image is found in the form of a plastic or ceramic statue. The statue is hollowed out with various ingredients such as beans, rice, coins and thread placed inside. These ingredients represent various aspects of the saint and are typically ‘sealed’ in the base of the statue with wax.
    The image can be male or female in gender, and is depicted in a number of colors including red, black, gold, white and green. The colors represent the specific purpose that the statue is being used for in rituals. For example, a black statue represents protection and aggressive magic while red represents matters pertaining to love. Some variations of the saint include removable hands, which can be removed from the image and returned to the image when the prayers are answered.

Append below is  a nine-day cycle of prayers to Santisima Muerte, taken from a Mexican Novena booklet.

Actually there are two separate prayers:

The first prayer is the Ejaculatory prayer which begins  with a separate prayer to the string that has been covered with the semen of the beloved and knotted with seven knots. This “Ejaculatory” prayer is recited as the string is wound around into the groove in the base of the statue.

sheep, keeping his promises and

always loving and submissive.

(*Three Our Fathers*)

Notes to the above prayers:

  • The reference to the pale blue Rosemary flower in the prayer of the “Third Day” has a significant dual meaning — ros marinus (”the dew of the sea”) is the ancient Latin name for the Mediterranean Rosemary herb much used in spells for female domination and in Peaceful Home spells — but the sound of the words also makes a pun with the idea of a Rose of [the Virgin] Mary (whose sacred flower is the Rose), and so the herb, not at all related to Roses, has come to symbolize certain aspects of Mary, especially her sea-borne and home-strengthening apparitions.

  • This spell-work must be done at night. The prayers for both “The Third Day and “The Eighth Day” make that clear, for the former refers to “midnight” and the latter to the beloved being asleep while the work is underway.

  • The reason that it is necessary to begin this Novena on a Sunday night is because in the prayer for the “Third Day,” mention is made of “Tuesday” — but only if the first day is a Sunday will the third day will be a Tuesday.
  • Also, as the prayer of the “Third Day” makes clear, even after the nine-day novena cycle is completed, the supplicant must continue to offer a candle to Santisima Muerte “every Tuesday of every week at twelve midnight” as long as the spell is desired to be in effect.

  • In other words, the Novena cycle gets things going, but to keep them working, a candle must be offered to Holy Death every Tuesday at midnight.

  • Finally, it is worth noting that this prayer-cycle contains elements rather similar to the better-known Prayer of Intranquility designed to bring back a lost lover. The “Ejaculatory” prayer and prayers of “The Third Day” and “The Eighth Day” all make a point of condemning the wandering lover to have no peace or tranquility in his social life until he complies with the desires of the petitioner.
